Spring is soon to give way to summer and the events in Peachtree City are heating up with the temperatures. There is plenty to do in the next month or so around town, so get out your calendars and a pen, not a pencil, because there is no way you’ll be erasing these events.

ON YOUR MARKS …

Get set. And … GO! Runners will not want to miss the All American 5K, 10K and Phantom Walk/Run on May 15, Armed Forces Day. The 11th annual event is held in honor of veterans past and present. The races start and finish at Frederick Brown Amphitheater at Shakerag Knoll. The event provides everyone a chance to participate how they wish. Run or walk in the 5K. Go for the gold in the 10K run, or do it all virtually in the Phantom event. New for this year is a discount for military veterans, police officers, firefighters, EMTs and hospital workers as a thank you for their steadfast service.

The races are presented by American Legion Post 50 and the Peacthree City Running Club. Proceeds will go to support veteran and youth programs sponsored by Legion Post 50 in Peachtree City, Tyrone and Senoia. Registration and sign in start at 7 a.m., May 15, at the amphitheater. The races begin at 8:30 a.m. The first 300 entrants will receive a T-shirt designed to commemorate Armed Forces Day.

IT’S PARK TIME

After the race in the morning, head out to Drake Field to celebrate national Kids to Parks Day. Also on May 15, the annual special day was created by the National Park Trust to celebrate local parks across America. And what better place to do that than Drake Field? So bring the family, a picnic and enjoy our wonderful amenities right here in Peachtree City.

RUMOURS OF A CONCERT

That’s right folks, concerts are back at the Frederick Brown Amphitheater (The Fred)! Peachtree City will be rocking to the sounds of Fleetwood Mac on May 21 when Rumours comes to town. The Fleetwood Mac tribute band has forged a name for itself as one of the best in the business.

It’s actually many planes, and not just your basic airliner, either. Get ready for take off in Peachtree City when the 2021 Atlanta Air Show soars into Atlanta Regional Airport’s Falcon Field on May 22-23.


Your adrenaline will be pumping as you watch the aerial acrobatics of the U.S. Air Force’s F-35 Lightning II Demo Team show off the gravity defying feats of which the most advanced stealth fighter in the world is capable.

See the Black Daggers Parachute Team scoff at danger as the group from U.S. Army Special Operations Command perform aerial stunts that will have your heart racing. Also watch attack helicopter pilots show off their talents, the B-17 Texas Raiders, the U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight, Buck Roetman and much, much more.

THE DEAD WILL BE WALKING

The Camp is back for 2021. The bi-annual celebrity meet-and-greet will bring the people behind the characters in the hit AMC show “The Walking Dead,” as well as other actors from various shows and movies, to Peachtree City. The weekend is described as a “fanmily” reunion. Don’t miss the chance to meet your favorite characters and be a part of “The Walking Dead.”

HONOR THE FALLEN

Pay your respects and honor the brave men and women who sacrificed everything to protect the freedoms we hold so dear. The annual Memorial Day ceremony is set for the 9 a.m. on May 31 at City Hall. Come and show your gratitude to those people who gave all in their service.

CONCERTS

The music continues in June with two more concerts at The Fred. A1A – The Official Jimmy Buffett Tribute Show comes to town at 7:30 p.m. on June 19. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Then catch another tribute on June 26 when Black Jacket Symphony performs the classic Eagles album “Hotel California.” Doors open at 6:30 p.m., music begins at 7:30 p.m.
