The Fred Amphitheater Announces 2024 Concert Season

Get ready to rock out at the 2,500-seat Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater here in Peachtree City – locally and fondly referred to as “The Fred.”

“We have patrons that have had series tickets for over 20 years,” said Carol Kelley, General Manager of The Fred. “You’ve got a group of people that are hard core music people, but also those who just want to sit in the same seats by their friends to party and have a good time.”

The Fred is Peachtree City’s favorite outdoor concert experience. A rustic path through the woods leads music lovers to The Fred, which offers a mix of table, theater-style, and lawn seating options. The open-air venue in the Georgia pines is an exceptional space to experience national and international touring acts along with up-and-coming performers.

“What’s unique to The Fred is the sense of loyalty and ownership by the citizens of Peachtree City,” said Tod Elmore, Principal Talent Buyer with RCS Productions, who is contracted by the City of Peachtree City to secure entertainment. “People are highly invested in the venue and treat it like it’s theirs – unlike any place else that we program.”

Elmore buys the bands, simply put, for venues around the Southeast. The Fred’s season typically runs from April through October.

Management listens to what people recommend. For example, The Fred’s social media post last fall asked, “Who do you want to see perform next year?” It was answered with more than 300 comments and recommendations, and each was considered.

“We start with targets from a variety of sources and we pay attention to feedback on social media,” said Elmore. “We begin with a wish list and research who is available, who is touring, and then we go hunting.”

Elmore and his team are looking for variety in bands and across musical genres. They map out the season and aim not to be too heavy on the front end or back end. They also try to program exclusively on Saturday nights, which is a challenge because many bands love to play the weekends and it limits availability. Some of the bands are not affordable within the competitive ticket price range that The Fred aims to maintain. Other bands may be in packaged tours that cannot split off. Still, the love overflows and sometimes the summer isn’t long enough to accommodate them all.

“We hear a lot about how wonderful our staff is. It adds to the experience when you come to the venue,” said Kelley. “The staff genuinely want to be there and want to help people and we are proud of our team.”

Elmore added that behind the scenes, The Fred is upgrading infrastructure to accommodate bigger light shows that will be more attractive to bands.
