Picnic on the Grass by first stocking the picnic basket at the twice weekly Farmers Market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 9 am to 1 pm at Aberdeen Village Shopping Center. Then head to one of the serene spots in Peachtree City to enjoy your rustic feast:
- Flat Creek boardwalk puts you in the middle of the 500-acre Flat Creek Nature Area, owned by the City of Peachtree City. Be enchanted by sightings of herons, beavers, and other native wildlife in this tranquil setting. Park at the amphitheater and head to the boardwalk, or take the paths to the entrance.
- Tinsley Mill holds the ruins of the original mill from which some of our city places take their name. On Flat Creek between Lake Kedron and Flat Creek Golf Course, the mill site features a picnic area.
- Line Creek Nature Area is a 70-acre public preserve along Line Creek off Highway 54 on the Fayette/Coweta County line. This popular Nature Area offers a mix of habitats – an upland hardwood forest, beautiful creekside granite outcroppings, and a stream bordered by native azaleas. You can fish from the dock on a pond (with a valid fishing license) and take in the scenery of three miles of nature trails. See remnants of mill dams.
Feel the Pull of Gravity in a Barrel Roll aboard a WWII airplane, a living history program made possible by the Commemorative Air Force. The museum was founded to acquire, restore, and preserve – in flying condition – World War II-era aircraft. View the complete collection of combat aircraft flown by all U.S. military with some additional international aircraft.
- Aerobatic Flights: Buckle into the cockpit of the LT-6 Mosquito. The experienced pilots can demonstrate wingovers, loops, barrel rolls, and aileron rolls like the WWII cadets who trained for combat.
- Warbird Flights: Feel the g-forces from the 1,500 horsepower Rolls Royce Merlin engine in the P-51 Mustang “Red Nose” or be transported to the Battle of Midway in the gunner’s seat of the ultra-rare SBD-5 Dauntless. You will see, hear, and feel what the airmen of the Greatest Generation experienced in the skies over Europe and the Pacific during World War II.
Groove to Music in the Pines at The Fred, where musicians across genres play in the open-air amphitheater. Because of the intimate atmosphere, where 2,500 of your friends can gather, shows do sell out, so reserve early:
