On November 23, 2005, the Georgia Aquarium opened its doors to the public. As the world’s most magical aquarium, the Georgia Aquarium features more animals than any other aquarium in more than 10 million gallons of water. Through a path of more than 60 exhibits, the aquarium tells a global water story, with features modeled after the greatest zoos and aquariums in the world. Each majestic exhibit is designed to inspire, entertain and educate. The Georgia Aquarium offers an engaging, intriguing and informative experience for guests of all ages. While promoting a fun and enjoyable learning experience, the aquarium instills in a new appreciation for the world’s aquatic biodiversity. To date, the Georgia Aquarium has attracted more than 11 million visitors and employs more than 400 employees and a dedicated team of more than 2,000 volunteers. The aquarium has dedicated 25 percent of the gallery space to educating students of all ages who visit the aquarium’s Learning Loop. Innovative technologies as well as interactive and interdisciplinary techniques ensure that students have an enjoyable academic experience.
